KARMA KEG

The idea for Karma Keg is simple:

Make a suggested $10 donation, receive a drink ticket, and choose a select craft beer in exchange for your support!

Come by anytime after 6:00 PM to enjoy great beverages and conversation. At 7:30 PM or when the beer keg kicks, we pull a voting card out of the Karma Keg, and whichever local nonprofit is on the card wins the entire evening's proceeds. If you have a favorite community nonprofit, invite a bunch of your friends and increase the chances of your charity of choice winning the evening's take.

What is our history of Karma Keg?

Beverly-Hanks held the first Karma Keg event in late 2017. Events were held quarterly at breweries around the region until the March 2020 event was cancelled due to the pandemic. Breweries that hosted Karma Keg included BearWaters, Blue Ghost, Catawba, Hi-Wire, Dry Falls, Oskar Blues, Sanctuary (now Oklawaha), and Ginger's Revenge.

We restarted our Karma Keg tradition in March 2024 with an event at Mills River Brewing.

Who won Karma Keg in the past?

This event's winner depends on the people who come out to vote for it! But past event winners include Asheville Community Theatre, Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC, Blue Ridge Humane Society, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, Homeward Bound WNC, Smart Start Partnership for Children, Broyhill Children’s Home, and WNC Down Syndrome Alliance.

At our Spring Karma Keg event, we had over 150 nonprofit entries, and at the end of the night, Blue Ridge Humane Society walked away with a $1,700+ donation. In total, we have helped raise more than $15,000 for these causes!

So, wait. How does this work?

The goal of Karma Keg is to bring people out in support of local nonprofits. But ultimately, one nonprofit, chosen at random, will win all of the proceeds from the event. Come by anytime after 6:00 PM to enjoy great beverages and conversation. Sign in and make a donation upon entry. In exchange for your donation, you will receive a drink ticket, which can be redeemed for one of the select craft beers chosen by the brewery for this event.

Cash and check donations are preferred.

How is a nonprofit chosen?

At 7:30 PM or whenever the beer keg kicks, we will pull one of the voting submission cards at random out of the Karma Keg. Whichever local nonprofit is on the ticket wins the entire evening's proceeds. If you have a favorite community nonprofit, invite a bunch of your friends and increase the chances of your charity of choice winning the evening's take.

NOTE: Nonprofits must operate primarily in Western North Carolina.

How many entries can I have?

Each person gets ONE voting card entry! If you want to ensure more votes for your nonprofit, bring more people.

How many drink tickets can I have?

A suggested $10 donation gets you ONE drink ticket. A $15 donation gets you two drink tickets. Drink tickets are limited to two per person, but you can purchase additional beverages from the bar.

How do I invite all my friends!?
